This is a general forms kit providing information, forms and instructions on how to serve your spouse with the divorce papers by "alternative" or "substituted" means when you do not know where your spouse lives or works. The kit provides the instructions as well as forms for obtaining permission to serve the papers by such alternate means. However, you must remember, that you cannot accomplish valid service of the papers on your spouse unless you first make the written request of the court allowing you to do so. Otherwise, your service will be invalid and you will be unable to obtain the final divorce decree without a valid service of the papers on your spouse as authorized by law, or specifically ordered by the judge assigned to your case.
